The Drawings
My drawings are created by close observation of people, wildlife, plants, obscure objects that attract my attention and the landscape I am immersed in with a particular fascination with shadows and light. I work from photo studies and traditional still life set ups to render the basic composition and then continue with black and white charcoal marks to build abstract realist shapes. Yin / Yang. Dark / Light. Once the drawing feels like it is lifting off the surface of the paper, I know I am close to the essence of the work.
I was honored to have a collection of my drawings presented in a solo show at the 3 Fish Studio in Amador City.
Giclee reproductions of original charcoal drawings, printed on archival cold-pressed white paper and signed, are available for purchase framed or unframed online, from the gallery below, or from me personally at all Amador Farmers Markets throughout the season.
