My antique flower cart and yellow market umbrellas have been a popular fixture at Amador County farmers markets since 2014, the same year I retired from my lifelong work in the theatre and entertainment industry.

Over a 50 Year span, I worked as a professional set builder, technical director, production stage manager and designer in the theatre and specialty construction industry in New York and Los Angeles. My theatre and art credits include design and technical direction for numerous productions at New York’s prestigious Roundabout Theatre Company, extravagant Las Vegas stage shows and sculpture collaborations that reside in the permanent collections of MOCA Los Angeles, Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles, and MOMA New York.
I served as specialty construction supervisor for hundreds of national and international television commercials during my 30 years in Hollywood and was instrumental in the successful completion of many major national and international backlot scenery projects for Disney and Universal Studios, as well as high end product launches in Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, and London.
My transition from managing large-scale entertainment projects to the quiet life of a rural flower farmer was somewhat abrupt. As much as I enjoyed the artistic collaboration process, after 50 years of increasingly short timelines, challenging budgets, temperamental directors and constant travel, it was time to sell our home in Pacific Palisades and walk away.
Over the last 10 years, I became actively involved in the Amador County community of small farms and ranches that sell products at our local farmers markets. I am the President of the Amador Farmers Market Association, an Amador County Master Gardener and a member of the Farms of Amador board of directors. I initiated the Farms of Amador School Farm Tour program and formed the Foothill Flower Co-op with several other flower farmers to provide locally grown fresh cut flowers at our farmers markets.
During my 30+ years in Los Angeles I found time to study drawing and oil painting with David Leffel, Kate Sammons, Manny Cosentino and Regina Lubovnya at the Academy of Fine Arts in Los Angeles. I still enjoy my “studio time” at home, when the farmers market season is over, and it is just too cold to be working outside.
Fortunately for me, my collaboration process continues, although this chapter of my life involves very different skills and more diverse partners. I enjoy working with talented and passionate individuals (young and old) who focus on mindful farming, artistic expression and living a simple enchanted life in the Sierra Foothills, the place I now call home.

A sincere thank you to my neighbor farmers and friends who allow me to forage on their properties, in this amazing Shenandoah Valley, to enhance my market offerings of locally grown flowers, eucalyptus, bay and lavender.
